Ashley. Why are you smiling at Molly like you are friends?? I was so mad at her on Horizon and I fully intended to play out Molly’s anger at Ashley’s betrayal. Sure Molly understood that Ashley thought Molly had betrayed everything they had stood for by joining Cerberus, but dammit Ash! You know Shepard better than that!

Molly cut her hard on Mars, but then Dr. Eva Core happened and ... sigh.

I wanted Molly to hold a grudge, but the game options didn’t allow for it (unless you just ignored Ashley at the hospital). It’s like the game knew that, in my heart, I didn’t want to hate Ashley; I wanted to give her a chance and it took me down that path. I even bought her books to read and I loved Shepard’s hospital pep talk – which I would actually have preferred to hear Tarisa use for Kaidan instead of the cheesy “I need you” one that was made ever so creepy when that guy came in to stare at Kaidan’s bare chest.

LATER: Dealing with Ashley right after considering betraying Wrex made the decision to talk Ashley down easy – ish. Molly could not pull that trigger, even if she thought Ashley did deserve a smack for refusing to listen. I played the scene 3 times including one where I saved Ashley. In the end, I accepted the version with EDI killing her (and will have a long chat with EDI about that), but never once considered the option to kill her myself.

A Farewell, by Alfred Lord Tennyson
Flow down, cold rivulet, to the sea,
Thy tribute wave deliver:
No more by thee my steps shall be,
For ever and for ever.

Flow, softly flow, by lawn and lea,
A rivulet then a river:
Nowhere by thee my steps shall be
For ever and for ever.

But here will sigh thine alder tree
And here thine aspen shiver;
And here by thee will hum the bee,
For ever and for ever.

A thousand suns will stream on thee,
A thousand moons will quiver;
But not by thee my steps shall be,
For ever and for ever.

WHAT IS THIS?

This is my mindspill. Mostly about comics, books, video games, movies of the science fiction and fantasy leanings. Sometimes recipes and parenting stuff will sneak in, along with a real world rant or two.

I also write about geek culture at Women Write About Comics, and I review genre fiction at The BiblioSanctum.
