The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Just one more chapter"ed this to completion at 1:44am this morning and am paying for it. Somewhat predictable, but only because of the inevitable aspects of the situation. Each turn involved at least two (predictable) outcomes, so the page turning was a matter of finding out which came true and when Katniss would figure things out. Looking forward to the next, after I get a nap.

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A slow start, but I suppose the pace made sense based on what was actually happening. And while the initial events were slow, they were not dwelled on, which I appreciate it. I also appreciated the way the love triangle was handled, as I was concerned it would overwhelm the story and character.

Katniss remains an interesting character. Fiercely intelligent when it comes to survival, naive, even stupid, when it comes to everything else.

Hoping the third book will tie things up nicely without glossing over important details on how things have come to be.

Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3)Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A bitter sweet end to the trilogy. Well, a lot bitter, with a tiny, tentative bit of sweet at the end. I am pleased with the paths the book took. I am pleased that it was not afraid to take them. I hope Hollywood does not get this far in turning these into movies as Hollywood would not know what to do with all the sadness, loss and despair.

Overall, a very good series, if only for the development of the character and the reinforcement of the concept of children being turned into soldiers.
